Description:
Body slender, with widely separated lateral processes. Cephalon somewhat longer than the two following segments together, neck comparatively short but strongly constricted, frontal part rather broad. Abdomen comparatively small, cylindrical and directed upwards.
Ocular tubercle somewhat elevated, truncated at the top, with acute, produced lateral corners. Proboscis rather large, as long as the cephalon. Chelifores uncommonly feeble; hand somewhat shorter than the scape, very narrow and densely hairy; fingers elongate and slim, longer than the palm. Palps very slender, 2nd and 3rd segments equal in length, the penultimate segment greatly elongated, nearly twice as long as the terminal one.
Ovigerous legs with ten segments present in both sexes; in male somewhat longer than the body length; 5th segment longer than the 4th one and furnished with a row of setiferous tubercles; terminal part shorter than the 5th segment; marginal spines coarsely serrate, without any strong tooth at the base.
Ambulatory legs slender, almost five times longer than the body, and beset with short, scattered hairs; tibia 2 slender, a third longer than the femur and more than twice as long as the terminal section; tarsus elongate, linear; propodus considerably shorter, likewise very slender and beset along the inner edge with exceedingly small capilliform spines; terminal claw evenly curved in the outer part; auxiliary claws small.
Colour whitish. Length of the body up to 6.5 mm; the extent between the points of the ambulatory legs reaching 62 mm.
Habitat:
Sublittoral, down to 180 m.
Distribution:
A northern species, common on the west coast of Norway.
